Baer or Indian Jujube is natively grown in Arid regions of India. Also cited in the epic of Ramayana - as to how Shabri (old tribal woman) handpicks and tastes all the berries herself to only serve the best ones upon Lord Rama's arrival. Hence the name "Shabri ke Baer". Even in the region it has grown abundantly - Baer hasn't seen acceptance in the ever-evolving culinary scene where it's European counterparts seem to have incorporated in the menus, from mocktails, and shakes to pastry.
